There are two types of skills: superstar skills and zone skills. The first ones are Superstar skills which are always active when a match starts. For example, Bench Press, Balance Beam, Spinner. And the other is the Zone skills that have to be earned by meeting certain conditions in the game and then “activated” (for example: Bazooka, Blitz Radar, Ankle Breaker).
Always pay attention to the tracker in the game that indicates how close you are to activating your abilities. Try to include superstar players in the game plan early and often!
Superstar abilities can be very powerful, even if they are not celebrated as much as “zone” abilities. They won’t be tracked on the screen, but your player indicator ring will flash when you do them.
When your ability is active, keep an eye out for the “knockout conditions” that will take your player out of the zone. You worked hard to get it in there, so try to keep it as long as possible!
Think about your defend, don’t forget that your opponent can also have abilities! If they are close to entering “the zone,” consider defending that option to prevent them from being activated.
One thing worth noting is that in “Play Now” mode, many players have 3 superstar abilites (with elite players having up to 4). In franchise mode, as of now you are still capped at 2 superstar abilities.
Note: there is a complete database of skills both online and in game! Stay in control of your players and keep coming back as they update throughout the season.
